* Goodyear Cottage: Pottery demonstration/teaching workshop by ceramic artist Lorna Meaden will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. upstairs at McCormick's Grill, 322 Captain Wylly Road, Jekyll Island. A meet and greet artist reception for workshop attendees will be at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 31 at Goodyear Cottage, 321 N. Riverview Drive, Jekyll Island. Cost: $25 for Jekyll Island Pottery Guild members and $100 for non-members.

* Jekyll Island Authority, Brunswick Lions Club and Georgia Barbecue Association: Jekyll BBQ Beach Bash will be held from 4 to 10 p.m. Jan. 31 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 1. Professional and amateur cook-offs, classic cars, hot air balloon tethered rides, Kid's Fun Zone, live music and art vendors will be available.

* Arthur Moore Methodist Museum, Library and Archives at Epworth by the Sea, 100 Arthur J. Moore Drive, St. Simons Island: Mystery on the River Dinner at 6:30 p.m. in the Pioneer Room. Three-course Italian buffet and silent auction included. Admission: $40 per person and reservations required at 638-4050.

* Golden Isles Arts and Humanities: Peach State Opera's version of Mozart's comedy, "Cosi Fan Tutte" at 3 p.m. at the Ritz Theatre, 1530 Newcastle St., Brunswick. Tickets: Adults are between $10 and $20, and increase by $5 the day of the show. Tickets for students are $5. Details: 262-6934.

Jan. 28

* Island Concert Association: Bruce Adolphe, known as NPR's Piano Puzzler, will perform at 7:30 p.m. at St. Simons Presbyterian Church, 205 Kings Way, St. Simons Island. Admission is free.
