Camden escapes Brunswick
With their hopes set on a second straight region title, the Camden County High School fans who filled the visiting section of Glynn County Stadium Friday were dreading the unthinkable for more than three quarters.

The faithful in blue and white watched the vision of an undefeated region record nearly dissolve, thanks to the upset-minded home team.

With the stadium at close to its 12,000-seatcapacity, the Brunswick High School Pirates gave the visiting Wildcats all they wanted and more.

A lot was on the line Friday, particularly for each senior on the field. It was senior night for the Pirates and the last game at Glynn County Stadium for quarterback Cory Dixon, who put on a show in the first half with an electric 69-yard touchdown run to put the Pirates up 12-3 by halftime.

It was clear the Brunswick seniors wanted to end their careers with what would have been one of the school's biggest wins since head coach Victor Floyd took over the program in 2008.

But it was equally clear that the Wildcats were determined in the second half to not let that happen.

Led by senior Kalvaraz Bessent and junior Antonio Wimbush, the Wildcats came back to win 18-12 and scored the go-ahead touchdown with three minutes remaining.
