The News names circulation director
René Griffis, the new circulation director of The Brunswick News, has a true "field experience" kind of story.

And she is no stranger to the inner workings of newspaper distribution because of it.

Twelve years ago, Griffis was hired by The News to be a newspaper carrier. The News was an afternoon paper at the time. She and her 4-year-old son spent their afternoons driving and delivering newspapers to businesses and residences.

The Brunswick native stayed with the newspaper, moving into various roles and taking on other responsibilities when The News switched to morning delivery.

It's a career path that has led to her new position as director of circulation.

"I'm very excited about my new position," said Griffis, who will have as one focus to increase circulation in Glynn and the county's neighbor to the immediate south. "Right now, I know we have a wide open area in Camden."

The News, which has a news bureau in Camden County, will have a booth at the Mardi Gras festival in St. Marys Saturday. Griffis says it will be a great opportunity for the newspaper to shake hands with more Camden County residents.

"Stop by and see what we're about," Griffis said. "I know you will like us."

Griffis says she is ready to serve long-term and will always help subscribers with any questions they might have.

"Just know that we are here to take care of your needs," she said. "Our readers are family. We try to never forget that."
