Republicans outline goals, elect leaders
The Glynn County Republican Party has elected a new slate of officers and is in the process of drafting a position paper that outlines its philosophy and goals.

New chairman Jeff Jones, who replaces Ron Sadowski at the helm, said his goal is to "re-estabish the conservatism of the Republican Party in Glynn County."

"We don't feel the conservative arm of the Republican Party is being heard at the national level," Jones said. "As long as we keep acting like liberals, the liberals are going to continue to vote for Democrats."

Rep. Jack Kingston, who represents Glynn County and the rest of the Georgia coast in the U.S. House of Representatives, is a Republican, as are the state's two U.S. senators - Saxby Chambliss and Johnny Isakson.

The party will also monitor local issues to determine if elected officials are making decisions they believe are consistent with Republican Party philosophy, he said.

Party members are currently working together to create a document that outlines the party's expectations for local elected officials. Jones said party members have had no disagreements with the philosophy they plan to express.

"We're putting together a position paper to express how our government should be operating," Jones said. "It starts at the local level."

All three members of Glynn County's state delegation are Republicans. Republicans also hold all local countywide offices and six of the seven seats on the Glynn County Commission and Glynn County Board of Education.

Other local party positions were also filled at a recent convention, Jones said.

The appointments include Jeff Kilgore as first vice chairman; Charlie Crumbliss as second vice chairman; Charles Lewis as treasurer; Marlene Parmley as assistant treasurer; Cate Gooch-Coolidge as secretary and the Rev. Ken Atkins and Ruby Robinson as executive committee members.
