Voter deadline nears
A week remains to register to vote in Glynn County for the Nov. 6 general election.

Voter registration will end Oct. 9, said Glynn County Board of Elections Supervisor Cindy Johnson.

The weeks leading up to the registration deadline have yielded more active voters, she said.

"The number of active voters for Glynn County as of Oct. 1 is 46,200," Johnson said. That's 300 more registered than two weeks ago and 1,300 since the July 31 primary.

"Some have been coming in to collect voter registration forms and doing informal registrations and handing them out," Johnson said. "We haven't yet see any great numbers from it."

Approximately 240 of 963 mailed absentee ballots have been returned to the Board of Elections, Johnson said. Voters can request a ballot by phone or by using the Board of Election's website to complete and print the absentee ballot application.

The form must be signed and dated, then mailed, hand-delivered or faxed to the office located at Office Park, 1815 Gloucester St. in Brunswick.

For those wanting to avoid crowds at the polls on Nov. 6, early voting will begin at the Office Park location on Oct 15. Voting there will continue from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays until Nov. 2.

Early voting on St. Simons Island will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 29 to Nov. 2 at Fire Station No. 2 1929 Demere Road.

A day of Saturday voting will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 27 at the Office Park location.

The Board of Elections website is located at www.glynncounty.org and contains a link called the My Voter Page, where registered voters can enter their information to see their polling location and sample ballot.
