Anniversaries

First Friendship Baptist Church, 1010 Lee St., Brunswick, will celebrate its 117th anniversary beginning at 5 p.m. Sunday with the Rev. Rupert Rolle and Shiloh Baptist Church as guests. The celebration will continue at 7:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Guest churches and speakers will be the Rev. R.J. Leggett and Emanuel Baptist Church, Monday; The Rev. Doreeen Small and Grace United Methodist Church, Tuesday; the Rev. Darrell Dawson and Bright Star Baptist Church, Wednesday; the Rev. Charlie Bryant and O Street Church of God, Thursday; and First African Baptist Church of St. Simons Island, Friday. At 11 a.m. May 18, the Rev. Dr. Raymond Polite, pastor of Arcadia Baptist Church, Albany, will be guest speaker.

First Jordan Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 2004 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Brunswick, will celebrate the first anniversary of Pastor Kenneth and First Lady Stormy Adkins at 6 p.m. May 18 with Pastor Leofric Thomas and the Open Arms Fellowship Church, Jacksonville, as special guests.

Glyndale Baptist Church, 132 Butler Drive, Brunswick, will celebrate its 55th homecoming May 17 and 18. At 7 p.m. May 17, a "sing," Caleb and Friends, will be led by student minister Caleb Everman with a popcorn and soda fellowship following. At 10:30 a.m. May 18, Scott Brawner, former youth minister at Glyndale, and now with the International Mission Board, will be guest speaker. A covered-dish dinner will follow morning worship.

Anniversaries

Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 3425 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Brunswick, will celebrate its 84th Anniversary at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and at 11:30 a.m. May 18. Special guests will be the Rev. Tommy Benton and First United Christian Church, the Rev. Troy A. Moody and Kingdom Builders Ministry and the Rev. Tommie Herrington and congregation, Wednesday; the Rev. W.L. Phillips and Bethel Baptist Church, the Rev. Gardner and Needwood Baptist Church and the Rev. Charles Blue and Agape Assembly Christian Fellowship Church, Thursday; and the Rev. Eddie Turner and Newberry Free Will Baptist Church, the Rev. Dr. Carswell and Greenland Baptist Church, the Rev. R.L. Leggett and Galilee Baptist Church and the Rev. Summers and Living Waters Baptist Church, Friday. At 11:30 a.m. May 18, the celebration will culminate with special guests the Rev. Doyle E. Matthews and First African Baptist Church, Fancy Bluff, and the Rev. Zarak C. Hasbrouk and Salem St. John Baptist Church, Sterling. A fellowship luncheon will be served following the Sunday service.

St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, 1929 Albany St., Brunswick, will celebrate its 110th women's mission anniversary at 4 p.m. May 18.

Events

Destiny Outreach Evangelistic Center, 1803 G St., Brunswick, will host its Women of Destiny Fellowship Conference at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday through May 18. Guest speakers and churches will be Pastor Shawanda Jones of Royalty Christian in Lumber City, Wednesday; Prophetess Laura Stephens of Greater Works Than These Ministries, Brunswick, Thursday; and Prophetess Gale Ross of Ross Ministry, Hinesville, Friday. At 9 a.m. Saturday, a women's brunch will be held at the King and Prince Beach Resort on St. Simons Island. At 11 a.m. Sunday, the speaker will be Prophetess Gretta Hall.

It's a New You Ministry, will hold its Leadership Conference 2008, "Destiny is Calling," at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Holy Band Church, 2401 Norwich St., Brunswick. Pastor P. Cummings of Tupelo, Miss., will be guest speaker.

Prayer Gathering, sponsored by Mission of Love Church, Fellowship of Ministries, will be from 9 to 11 a.m. at Glynn County Stadium on Fourth St., Brunswick.

True Deliverance Tabernacle, 21 Tenth St., Brunswick, will hold a Youth Gospel Throwdown featuring choirs and artists at 7 p.m. today.

Special services

Abysinia Baptist Church, 2501 Albany St., Brunswick, will celebrate its annual Young Adult Day at 11 a.m. May 18. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Treyon Woolfolk, ministerial adviser of the Sixth District of Georgia in the General Missionary Baptist Convention of Georgia. He is also youth pastor at New Fellowship Baptist Church, Macon.

Agape Assembly, 1514 Fourth St., Brunswick, will hold a special Mother's Day service at 11 a.m. Sunday. Guest speakers will include Evangelist Jarija Brownlee of Atlanta, Patricia Manley and Elder Pearl LeCount. Gifts will be given to the youngest mother, oldest mother and the mother with the most children. Dinner will be served after the service.

Bright Star Baptist Church, 256 Sweet Gum Drive, Brunswick, will celebrate Mother's Day at 11 a.m. Sunday. Featured speaker will be First Lady Ontanisha Dawson, wife of pastor the Rev. Darrell Dawson.

First Jordan Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 2004 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Brunswick, will host a Mother's Day celebration at 11 a.m. Sunday. Guest speaker will be Evangelist Michelle Seals.

Mount Orum Missionary Baptist Church, 66 Mount Orum Lane, Waverly, will hold a Women and Mother's Day service at 11 a.m. Sunday. Jacqueline Frazier of Albany, a spiritual leadership teacher and retired educator, will be guest speaker.

Resurrection Church of God in Christ, 800 L St., Brunswick, will host a Celebration of Motherhood, presented by Peace of Mankind, at 6 p.m. Sunday. Guest speaker will be Pastor Summer of Living Waters Temple of Faith.

St. Andrews Apostolic Church of Faith, 1010 Amherst St., Brunswick, will hold a Mother's Day service at 11:30 a.m. Sunday. The Rev. Morris E. Muse will be the speaker.
