The Golden Isles' three area baseball teams faced tough region competition Friday.

Despite the effort of Ryan Lawless on the mound and at the plate, the Glynn Academy Red Terrors fell 3-2 on the road at Effingham County.

In Springfield, Lawless hit two home runs in the Region 3-AAAAA contest and pitched five innings. The senior struck out nine Rebel batters and allowed six hits and three runs, only one earned, in a losing effort. Kody Trowbridge pitched an inning in relief of Lawless.

Noah Norton also had two hits for the Red Terrors. Caleb Robison had a double and Connor Buchanan and Josh Robison also had hits for Glynn (9-6 overall, 5-2 region).

On St. Simons Island, Frederica Academy dropped a Georgia Independent School Association Region 2-AA contest 8-1 to Brentwood School.

The Knights (5-5 overall, 2-2 region) trailed 2-0 after three innings, but Brentwood got three runs in the top of the fourth inning to break the game open. Brentwood added two more in the top of the sixth and another run in the top of the seventh.

Frederica scored its only run in the bottom of the sixth when Nick Steelman drove in a run. Steelman and Dylan Reyna had the Knights' only two hits of the game.

Ridge Harrison took the loss for Frederica in a complete-game effort. Harrison struck out four batters over seven innings of work.

At Historic Edo Miller Park, the Brunswick High squad faced off with Region 1-6A foe Camden County in a doubleheader.

The games did not finish in time to make the paper.
