Man killed at Mary Ross Park

A man who Brunswick Police found shot at Mary Ross Park shortly after midnight Friday morning died an hour later at the hospital.
Police responded to a call reporting gunshots and someone crying for help at 12:17 a.m. and found Richard Lane, 25, lying in the north entrance to Mary Ross Park on Bay street suffering from several gunshot wounds, according to Capt. Kevin Jones.
Lane was taken to Southeast Georgia Health System’s Brunswick hospital where he was pronounced dead at 1:23 a.m., Jones said.
A witness in the area at the time told detectives he saw a light colored vehicle leaving the area shortly after the shots were heard, but could not provide police with a detailed description, Jones said.
Police have not established a motive yet but Jones added that details about the murder are still emerging and detectives are following up on leads in the case.
